Our Teachers

Master Hyunmoon Kim Sun Do has been perfected and handed down over the last 9800 years. The art and practice of Sun Do originates from ancient Korean people in Northeast Asia, where it was practiced for centuries as mountain Taoism. With the arrival of foreign influences and philosophies, some practitioners retreated permanently to the mountains to preserve and protect this art from extinction.

It has only been in the last 35 years that this practice was re-introduced into mainstream culture by Taoist hermit Be-Kyung (Secret Boundary).

In 1979, one of Be-Kyung's students, Hyunmoon Kim, brought Taoist practices to the West where Sun Do has now taken hold and continues to flourish. Master Kim is one of a handful of master teachers. Since his arrival in 1979, he has been teaching Sun Do in the US, Canada, Europe and Southeast Asia. Master Kim combines his contemporary western knowledge (Ph.D. of Philosophy in Human Science) with ancient eastern science to more easily convey the principle of this 9800-year-old practice.
